Tribute paid to artist Musarrat Mirza

KARACHI:

A ceremony was organised by the Fine Art Committee of the Arts Council of Pakistan (ACP) to honour renowned artist Musarrat Mirza on Sunday.

The event was attended by a large number of artists, writers, and art enthusiasts, including Fine Art Committee Chairman Farrukh Tanveer Shahab.

Prominent speakers, including Noorul Huda Shah, Noorjehan Bilgrami, Mehr Afroze, Amra Ali, and Dr Marhab Qasmi, paid glowing tributes to the veteran painter. Speaking via video link, celebrated artist Salima Hashmi also praised Musarrat’s work, calling her “one of the most significant artists of our time.”

Noorjehan Bilgrami said Musarrat’s art “defines who she is,” while Mehr Afroze said that her paintings “radiate energy born of love.”

Expressing gratitude, Musarrat Mirza said, “Artists are like flowers – delicate and transient. Creation belongs only to the Divine; we are mere instruments of expression.”
