Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce might look like soulmates on the surface, but their stars only aligned after the NFL star put in a lot of efforts.
The 35-year-old Kansas City Chiefs tight end lifted the veil from his calculated scheme to get close to the pop superstar, 35, revealing that some of her friends were involved.
“There were definitely people she knew that knew who I was, in her corner [who said]: ‘Yo! Did you know he was coming?’,” Kelce told WSJ Magazine in a recent interview, adding, “I had somebody playing Cupid.”
Whoever played Cupid was good at their job because the Grammy winner ended up reaching out to him.
“She told me exactly what was going on and how I got lucky enough to get her to reach out,” Kelce told the outlet.
The lovebirds first connected after Kelce attended her Eras Tour concert in Kansas City on July 7, 2023, after she had recently broken up with Joe Alwyn and ended her brief whirlwind romance with Matty Healy.
Although Kelce couldn’t meet Swift the day he attended the concert and got her a friendship bracelet with her number on it, he went viral after sharing his disappointment on New Heights, and that got the singer’s attention.
Speaking about his first date in New York City, Kelce shared that he felt very nervous, with “Everybody around me telling me: ‘Don’t f–k this up.”
The star athlete concluded his masterplan story with, “You miss 100 percent of [the shots] you don’t take, baby, so yeah.”
