Six cops suspended over custodial death

MUZAFFARGARH:

District Police Officer (DPO) of Kot Addu Mansoor Qamar has suspended six police officials following the completion of a six-month-long inquiry into the custodial death of a kidnapping suspect in a lock-up.

According to a statement issued on Thursday, the suspended officials are Inspector Saeeda Khaliq, Assistant Sub-Inspector Abdul Hamid, Constable Waheed Rabbani, Constable Mahmoodul Hassan, Constable Muhammad Shehzad and Constable Shani Ali, all posted at Kot Addu City Police Station.

The DPO stated that the investigation was still under way and strict action would be taken against all officials found guilty in the case.

The deceased, Imran, had been accused of kidnapping a girl. The case was registered on the complaint of Sajida Bibi.
