Young Britons who have been on Universal Credit for 18 months could be given guaranteed paid work under the Labour Government’s recently unveiled “youth guarantee” scheme.
According to Chancellor Rachel Reeves, benefit claimants who refuse this employment offer could be slapped with sanctions from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
This comes amid growing concerns over the rising unemployment rate among 16-24 year olds in the UK, as well as Britain’s ballooning benefits bill.
