Sean Dyche has revealed “there is a lot more to come” from his Nottingham Forest side after their 2-0 win against FC Porto in the Europa League.
Morgan Gibbs-White scored the first goal of the Dyche era as he slotted home a penalty in the first half, before Igor Jesus did the same in a complete turnaround from the loss against Chelsea at the weekend.
Dyche has only been with the team for two days, but it was immediately evident that there was a style and confidence that the team had not had under Ange Postecoglou.
After the game, Dyche confirmed: “Marvellous. It meant a lot. The players have been through a lot and the fans have but just to give something back to them.

“We have been with them for two days and they have applied that very quickly. It is a start. There is a lot more to come but it is a start. A good start.
“The shape was good and we had to make sure that we kept it but also with the ball, can we stretch them? We managed to find the balance and we will get fitter and sharper. It will take a little bit of time.
“I don’t want to be a purist I want to play long and stretch teams. That gives you more room to play in. We had a chance second half to stamp our authority. It was nice that we got the second goal to settle it.
“We are very proud to be here with our past and connection to the club but that goes away quickly. To get a clean sheet and a win for the crowd and the players and give them a bit more belief was great.”

Gibbs-White finally scored his first goal of the season, and Dyche was quick to mention him after the match. He continued: “We tried to take the shackles off him a little bit. He is very good defensively but Morgan is a calming influence and we need to point him in the right way.
“He is infectious in the way he plays and trains and I thought the feeling was back in the group tonight.”
The forward admitted after the game that he felt a sense of relief that he ahs finally got a ball in the back of the net, he revealed: “I can finally breathe tonight. It has been a difficult couple of months with all the changes and the bad performances, so it was good to get our first win in eight or nine games.
“We are delighted to get the three points and I want to thank the fans for sticking by us.
“The gaffer said when he came in that last season we had a real identity, and he wants to build on top of that. I am just delighted that the boys got the three points and the win.

“You can feel the morale. It feels a lot more positive, and it needs to stay like that. That’s credit to the manager. He has instilled that in us, and we have to keep up that mentality.”
Dyche will be hoping that he can take the strong performance into the game against Bournemouth on Sunday, as he looks to begin to pull Forest out of the relegation zone.
