Russell Brand has been charged with further sexual offences following an ongoing Metropolitan Police investigation, prosecutors have confirmed.

The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised two additional charges against Mr Brand, 50, of Oxfordshire: one count of rape and one count of sexual assault. The new charges relate to two further women.

They are in addition to charges issued in April 2025, which involved four women and included two counts of rape, one count of indecent assault and two counts of sexual assault.

Detectives began investigating in September 2023 after a number of allegations were made following reporting by Channel 4’s Dispatches and The Sunday Times.

The alleged offences are said to have taken place between 1999 and 2005 in Bournemouth and Westminster, London.

According to police, the allegations include claims that a woman was raped in Bournemouth in 1999, a woman was indecently assaulted in Westminster in 2001, and another woman was orally raped and sexually assaulted in Westminster in 2004.

A further allegation relates to sexual assault in Westminster between 2004 and 2005.

Detective Chief Inspector Tariq Farooqi, who is leading the investigation for the Metropolitan Police, said the women who have come forward continue to receive specialist support.

“The women who have made reports, including those connected to the two new charges, continue to receive support from specially trained officers,” he said.

“The Met’s investigation remains ongoing, and detectives urge anyone affected by this case, or anyone with information, to come forward and speak with police.”

Police confirmed that the charges, including the two additional offences announced on Tuesday, relate to six separate women.

Mr Brand is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 20 January 2026 in connection with the two new charges.

A separate trial relating to the five original charges is scheduled to begin at Southwark Crown Court on June 16 2026.

The investigation remains active.
