A French rugby captain and his two friends were killed after being caught in an avalanche last Sunday.
Quentin Philippe, 29, was skiing with friends Hugo Neuville, 31, and Alexis Rassat, 35, when the incident unfolded, claiming the lives of all three men.
One man was found dead at the scene, according to French media.
A second died shortly after being taken to the hospital, and the third passed away on Monday after suffering from hypothermia and entering cardiac arrest.
Annecy-le-Vieux RC, a French rugby union club that Philippe captained, has released a statement expressing their sincere condolences.
They have also postponed their league match, which was scheduled for this Sunday.
The statement read: “Our valiant and steadfast captain has passed away.
“This Sunday, a postponed league match, our player Quentin Philippe was caught in an avalanche near Courmayeur.”

The statement continued: “He did not survive.
“We are devastated.
“Quentin, loyal to our colours for many years, had been instrumental in rebuilding the club.
“He was part of our remarkable run in the 2023/2024 season, which included the Alpes committee and Auvergne Rhône-Alpes league titles, as well as reaching the French championship semi-finals and securing promotion to Federale 3.

“Quentin, our strategist, always eager for stats and analysis, had been our captain since the beginning of this difficult season.
“Respectful and unifying, he knew how to motivate the Boys; he was our leader at the heart of this challenging season.
“Here in Glaisins, we are stunned.
“We will miss you terribly, but we know that up there, you will continue to watch over your friends and will certainly have your say.”
The club have also postponed their league match, which was scheduled for this Sunday

The club concluded by offering their sincere condolences to his parents and two brothers.
A public tribute is scheduled for March 1 at the Stade des Glaisins during the match against SC Couchois.
Despite the tragedy, the club has stated it will continue its Fédérale 3 season in memory of its captain.
