KARACHI:

Armed robbers looted Rs6.1 million in cash from the employees of a private company in Clifton area on Wednesday.

The incident occurred in Block 7, Clifton, within the jurisdiction of Boat Basin police station. Unidentified armed men intercepted the employees of a private company and, at gunpoint, snatched Rs6.1 million and fled.

SSP South Mahzoor Ali told The Express Tribune that the employees of a private company had withdrawn Rs6.1 million from a bank in Clifton Block 7. After withdrawing the cash they were returning to their office when four armed suspects riding two motorcycles intercepted them and snatched the cash bag from them at gunpoint.

SHO Boat Basin Rashid Ali further explained that two employees of the company had gone to the bank on a motorcycle, instead of using a car, to withdraw the money. On their way back their two-wheeler developed a flat tyre and they went to a tyre shop to fix it. After fixing the tyre, they resumed their journey to the office. However, en route, armed motorcyclists stopped them and snatched the money.

The SHO said, the police have recorded the statements of the company employees and are trying to obtain CCTV footage from the area to identify and arrest the suspects.
