Former Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond’s daughter escaped uninjured from a serious collision during the Formula E Evo Series in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, this afternoon.

Izzy Hammond, who is a motorsport journalist and content creator, lost control of her vehicle after her brakes reportedly failed, sending her careening into a concrete barrier.

Despite the violent impact, leaving her car severely damaged, Hammond confirmed she was unharmed, telling her team over the radio: “I’m fine, I’m fine.”

The incident occurred during the celebrity-focused racing event, which invites prominent digital creators to experience Formula E machinery firsthand.

The 25-year-old’s vehicle struck the wall at Turn 13 after she carried excessive speed into the corner, with the collision estimated at approximately 45Gs of force.

The impact proved devastating for her Lola team car, ripping off one wheel and destroying the front wing entirely.

Debris was scattered across the circuit following the crash, prompting the deployment of the safety car whilst medical personnel attended to the scene.

Former Formula One driver David Coulthard, providing commentary for the event, noted that Hammond had “caught the back end” and drifted offline at the apex before striking the barrier.

When questioned about the incident, she explained that her brakes had failed as she attempted to slow for the corner.

The Evo Series represents Formula E’s initiative to broaden its audience by placing influential content creators behind the wheel of GEN3 Evo machinery.

Fellow participants at the Jeddah event, including Sidemen personalities Behzinga and Vikkstar, watched Hammond’s crash unfold with visible concern.

The celebrity racing format launched in Miami last year.
