KARACHI:

Muslims in Pakistan are likely to observe the first fast on Thursday, February 19 as there is a strong possibility that the crescent of Ramazan will be sighted on February 18.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the birth of the new moon will occur on February 17 at 5:01 pm Pakistan Standard Time. Weather conditions across most parts of the country on February 18 are expected to remain partly cloudy or clear.

The chances of sighting the Ramazan moon on Shaban 29 are considered bright. However, the final announcement regarding the sighting of the Ramazan moon will be made by the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
