A teenage girl has been killed after a minibus collided with a car near a secondary school in North Yorkshire.
The fatal crash occurred at approximately 12.28pm on Monday where Toulston Lane meets Rudgate near Tadcaster Grammar School.
Nine youngsters between the ages of 16 and 18 were travelling in a Mercedes Sprinter when it was struck by a Hyundai i10.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, but a teenager was pronounced dead upon medical inspection.
A second teenage girl sustained serious injuries, although injuries are not considered life-threatening.
The remaining passengers and the driver suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, North Yorkshire Police have taken a 40-year-old woman into custody following the incident.
Officers have sealed off the area whilst their investigators and forensic teams inspect the crash site.

North Yorkshire Police have issued an urgent appeal for anyone who witnessed the collision to make contact.
The force is particularly keen to obtain dashcam recordings from motorists who were travelling through the area around the time of the incident.
A spokesman stated: “We are appealing for any witnesses or motorists with relevant dashcam footage to come forward as soon as possible.”
Members of the public have been asked to respect the bereaved family’s request for privacy during their period of mourning.
