An elderly driver managed to survive a horrific crash after smashing his vehicle into a coffee shop at breakneck speed.
The unidentified man, aged 90, crashed through Los Gatos Coffee Roasting Company, in Los Gatos, California, shortly after 9pm on Thanksgiving.
The car was seen hurtling down a 20mph zone in dramatic surveillance footage of the collision.
It showed the vehicle sailing through a red traffic light right into the storefront with a loud bang.
It narrowly avoided another car which cut across the intersection seconds before and was almost caught in the collision.
The scene was witnessed by a a man on the sidewalk who was stopped dead in his tracks before quickly pulling out his phone, seemingly to dial 911.
Another clip was later shared on social media showing the vehicle, a Volvo, being pulled out of the store.
Broken glass, bricks and smashed pieces of wood cover the sidewalk outside of the business as the vehicle was removed.

Co-owner Teri Hope said the destruction had devastated her
Owners Teri Hope and Dylan Phillips have since spoken out on their devastation and said everything inside was destroyed.
Phillips told CBS: ‘Everything within the café side was destroyed. Our coffee roaster took damage.
‘There’s probably nothing salvageable on the café side. Plumbing [was] broken, leaking into our basement. Lots of our inventory destroyed.’
He added that the vehicle ended up somewhere between 20 to 30 feet deep into the building, saying: ‘I’m surprised that the car didn’t go all the way through the building.’
Philips said the support from the local was overwhelming and that he was relieved the crash happened outside of opening hours.
He said: ‘If not, we would’ve had 50 customers in here listening to live music. We would’ve had the restaurants on the street open.

‘Our normal Thursday night, we would’ve had 30 to 40 people, and it would’ve ended up much, much worse. It would’ve been a major disaster.’
Those who spoke with CBS outside of the store determined the vehicle to be traveling anywhere from 70 to 100 miles per hour at the time of the smash.
Hope told ABC7: ‘Last night I got a call and was here within minutes after the incident happened. I was just beside myself, just devastated with the destruction.’
Police said that they are looking at all factors as they continue to investigate the crash.
The man had to be extricated from the vehicle by the Santa Clara County Fire Department, a statement added.
No further details have been released about the driver. The Daily Mail has contacted the local police for comment.
