Rosalía has officially announced her long-awaited new album, Lux, marking her first full-length release since 2022’s Motomami.
The Spanish singer, songwriter, and producer confirmed on Monday that the record will drop on November 7 through Columbia Records, exciting fans who have been eagerly awaiting new music.
To celebrate the announcement, Rosalía made a surprise appearance at Madrid’s Gran Vía, where she unveiled the album’s cover art, a striking image of herself dressed in nun’s attire against a soft baby-blue background.
The moment was streamed live on both TikTok and Instagram, capturing her drive through the city.
However, the TikTok broadcast abruptly ended after Rosalía was seen smoking a cigarette while driving, an act that goes against the platform’s policies.
“Been waiting so long for this day, this moment, and finally, this moment has arrived,” she told viewers during the livestream.
Fans can already pre-order Lux on her official website, with vinyl and CD editions available. There’s also a limited-edition bundle featuring a signed postcard priced at $34.99, as per Variety.
In the weeks leading up to the reveal, Rosalía had teased fans with mysterious hints about Lux.
On social media, she posted a series of cryptic messages, including one that read, “LUX = LOVE.”
She also shared a black-and-white photo of a Spotify billboard in Callao, Peru, displaying a sketch of her face surrounded by floating musical notes.
Earlier on Monday, fans spotted another billboard in New York’s Times Square confirming the album’s November release date.
Rosalía further built anticipation when she shared a short clip of herself listening to a symphony orchestra while holding a rosary between her teeth, hinting at a more spiritual or introspective tone for this era.
Speaking with Highsnobiety, the Grammy winner reflected on her personal evolution while working on the project.
“I’ve changed a lot, but at the same time, I’m still wrapping my head around the same things,” she said.
“It’s like I still have the same questions and the same desire to answer them. I still have the same love for the past and the same curiosity for the future.”
Her previous album, Motomami, released in March 2022, earned widespread critical acclaim and won Album of the Year at the 23rd Annual Latin Grammy Awards.
The milestone made Rosalía the first woman to win the award twice, following her earlier victory for El Mal Querer in 2019.
Since then, the artist has continued to expand her creative reach, collaborating with icons such as Björk, BLACKPINK’s Lisa, and Ralphie Choo. In 2023, she teamed up with Rauw Alejandro for a three-track EP titled RR, which featured fan favourites Beso, Vampiros, and Promesa.
With Lux, Rosalía appears ready to begin a new chapter, one that promises to blend her signature innovation with emotional depth and artistic growth.
