Argentine golfer Alejandro Tosti has taken an unconventional approach to finding love at this week’s Valspar Championship in Florida.
The 29-year-old decided to transform his caddie’s bib into a makeshift dating advertisement, ditching traditional dating apps in favour of a more public approach.
His bagman, Joaquin Ali, walked the course at Innisbrook Resort’s Copperhead Course sporting the bold message “NEED A WIFE” on his back.
The PGA Tour event has permitted players to customise their caddies’ bibs with personal messages since 2021, and Tosti seized upon this tradition to broadcast his single status to the Palm Harbor galleries.
Unfortunately for Tosti, his romantic strategy did not go entirely to plan.
Spectators at the tournament mistakenly believed it was Ali himself who was searching for a partner, rather than the golfer he was caddying for.
In footage released by the PGA Tour, Tosti said: “A lot of people were asking if it was my caddie that was needing a wife, but, no, it’s actually me.”
The confusion led fans to photograph Ali and rib him about his apparent relationship status.

Tosti revealed the idea originated after female volunteers enquired whether he was married, to which he confirmed he was not.
Tosti took the opportunity to pitch himself to any interested parties watching the tournament.
“I offer a lot of good stuff. I love cooking. I fly planes. I can play golf and have fun,” he said, outlining his credentials to prospective partners.
The Argentine, who has accumulated nearly $3million in prize money throughout his career on both the PGA Tour and Korn Ferry Tour, opened his tournament with a steady if unspectacular round.
