LAHORE:

A court at the Cantt Kachehri in Lahore has extended the physical remand of accused police officer DSP Azhar Naveed Khan by three days in a fraud case involving more than Rs340 million.

According to a one-page written order issued by Judicial Magistrate Ghulam Shabbir, the extension was granted to allow investigators more time to probe the case and recover the allegedly embezzled amount.

The accused was produced before the court upon completion of his previous remand.

The case has been registered at Defence B Police Station on the complaint of citizen Hissam Khan, who accused the DSP of involvement in a large-scale fraud.

During the hearing, the prosecution requested a 10-day physical remand to facilitate a comprehensive investigation and recovery of funds. However, the court approved a three-day extension instead.
