John Terry crashes on ski trip while holding St George’s Flag after ‘drinking all day’

Former England and Chelsea skipper John Terry has shared a video from his skiing holiday, documenting the moment his boozy day on the slopes went wrong.

The 45-year-old, who currently works with Chelsea’s academy, was enjoying a trip to Courchevel in the French Alps when he decided to film himself skiing whilst clutching a St George’s flag.

Terry admitted on Instagram that the stunt came after consuming alcohol throughout the day, followed by three tequilas immediately before hitting the slope.

Alongside the footage, he wrote: “Not the best idea to drink all day then smash three tequilas being skiing down. Watch till the end.”

The footage captures Terry gliding down the mountain, at one point spinning around to ski backwards whilst waving the England flag triumphantly above his head.

His celebration proved premature, however, as the clip concludes with the former defender tumbling to the ground at the bottom of the run.

Terry could be seen laughing at his own misfortune as he lay sprawled on the snow, eventually picking himself up slowly.

He included an apology to friends for owing them an England flag and a photo of himself posing with the banner, wearing sunglasses.

Prior to posting the embarrassing fall, Terry had shared other content from the trip.

Terry was joined on the Alpine getaway by former footballers Steve Sidwell and Bobby Zamora, along with his wife, Toni, and other partners in the group.

The trip also included a notable encounter away from the pistes, with Terry meeting Brazilian football legend Ronaldo during his time in the resort.

Despite the various highlights from the holiday, it was the flag-waving skiing disaster that proved to be the standout moment Terry chose to share with his followers.

The former England captain, who hung up his boots in 2018, appeared to be making the most of some time away from his coaching duties at Cobham.

Since retiring from professional football in 2018, Terry has taken on coaching positions at Aston Villa and Leicester before returning to Chelsea to work with the youth setup.

Earlier this year, the former captain expressed frustration at being overlooked when the club needed interim management following Enzo Maresca’s departure.

Chelsea opted for Under-21s boss Calum McFarlane instead, who secured a draw at Manchester City before the team lost to Fulham and Liam Rosenior was appointed.

Terry said: “Not annoyed, probably more frustrated.

“Clearly the ownership, or whoever made those decisions the sporting directors have gone ‘no’ not to include me, for whatever reason.

“I don’t know why.”
