Neil Warnock appears poised to conclude his brief return to football management, with the 77-year-old expected to depart Torquay United after a mere fortnight at the helm.
The veteran manager took on the unpaid interim position following the dismissal of Paul Wotton late last month, answering the call from the National League South outfit to provide stability during a turbulent period.
However, his second spell with the Gulls now seems to be drawing to a close.
The club’s search for a permanent successor has reached its final stages, with the interview process already completed.

Warnock previously credited Torquay with rescuing his managerial career during his 1993 tenure with the Devon club.
Speaking to club media on Thursday, Warnock indicated he did not anticipate remaining in charge for today’s fixture against Chesham United.
“No, I expect somebody in by then,” he stated. “The interview process has taken place, they have got in mind the people or the person that they want.”
The experienced boss explained that matters now rested with the club’s hierarchy.
“Now it is just a matter of the board dealing with it really,” he added.

GETTYWarnock confirmed he would continue overseeing training on Friday, noting the importance of ensuring players understood tactical arrangements and identifying any fitness concerns ahead of the weekend match.
Whilst Warnock acknowledged familiarity with the candidates under consideration, he emphasised his deliberate distance from the selection process.
“I know the candidates, but I said to the board that they have to do their due diligence,” he remarked.
“They have spoken to me about it, but I haven’t really given an opinion. They need to appoint who they feel is the right one, having made the decision to let Paul go.”
The veteran coach described the board’s recent efforts with characteristic wit: “I am sure they’re working really hard, they’ve been all over the place in the past couple of days – welcome to my world!”
Should Warnock indeed vacate the dugout for today’s encounter, his brief tenure will conclude with a solitary victory, one stalemate and a single defeat.
