An armed robber snatched three mobile phones and a purse from two sisters walking on the street and escaped after opening fire in Mohallah Qutabuddin within the jurisdiction of Waris
Khan police station.
CCTV footage of the incident has also surfaced. Police have registered a case and started searching for the suspect.
According to police, complainant Mahnoor Usman, a resident of Teli Mohalla, told police that she and her sister were returning home after shopping from Commercial Market when they reached Mohalla Qutabuddin. An armed man tried to snatch their bag containing three expensive mobile phones, cash and cards.
When they resisted and tried to stop him, the suspect started firing and fled after snatching the bag and phones.
CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced in which the girl can be seen bravely resisting the robber without caring about the pistol.
The robber can be seen pushing the girl to the ground and snatching the mobile phones and purse. When the girl falls, her sister can also be seen trying to help her. During the resistance, the robber fires shots which can be seen hitting the ground. As the suspect escapes, the girl can be seen chasing him, and passersby also appear to join in pursuing the robber.
The armed robber can be seen firing and fleeing through the streets. Taking notice of the serious incident, CPO Rawalpindi Khalid Hamdani ordered immediate registration of a case and investigation.
Meanwhile, after the CCTV footage went viral on social media, many users praised the girl’s bravery while some advised against resisting in such situations, and most demanded that the suspect be arrested and given strict punishment.
Statements recorded in TikToker case
During the hearing of TikToker Sana Yousaf’s murder case on Wednesday at the District and Sessions Court, the judge was informed that the statements of 22 witnesses have already been recorded.
Following which, the Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka gave the defence lawyers a final chance to cross-examine the witnesses and warned that a state counsel will be appointed if questioning does not take place at next hearing on March 12. State prosecutor Raja Naveed Hussain Kyani appeared before the court and presented the prosecution’s position.
