The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday suspended the notification appointing Syed Mohsin Shah as Medical Superintendent (MS) of the Punjab Dental Hospital and issued notices to the Government of Punjab and other respondents, seeking their replies.

Justice Khalid Ishaq passed the order while hearing a petition filed by Dr Muhammad Asim Farooqi challenging the appointment.

Counsel for the petitioner, Mian Bilal Bashir, argued that the post of Medical Superintendent had been given to a doctor holding an MBBS degree instead of a dental surgeon, which he said was in violation of the applicable rules. The lawyer contended that under the relevant regulations, the position should be filled by a doctor from the dental cadre.
