Martin Daubney has joined the long list of outraged voices disgusted by the vandalism of a Winston Churchill statue in Parliament Square.
The statue in the capital was vandalised overnight with pro-Palestine messages daubed in red paint across the bronze sculpture.
Slogans sprayed onto the memorial included “Zionist war criminal”, “Free Palestine”, “Stop the Genocide”, and “Globalise the Intifada”.
The phrase “Never again is Now” was also painted on the monument, which sits just metres from the Houses of Parliament in Westminster.
Cleaners removed the graffiti from the base of the statue this morning

GB NEWSAdditional graffiti appeared to include a message in Dutch reading “Greetings from the Hague”.
The 3.6-metre sculpture, created by Ivor Roberts-Jones, was unveiled in 1973 by the wartime prime minister’s wife, Clementine Churchill.
It stands among 12 statues on or around Parliament Square, including those of Abraham Lincoln and Nelson Mandela.
Metropolitan Police officers detained a 38-year-old man on suspicion of racially aggravated criminal damage following the incident in the early hours of Friday morning.

GB NEWSAccording to a Met spokesperson, the suspect was spotted applying graffiti to the statue shortly after 4am. Police arrived at the scene within two minutes of the sighting. The man remains in police custody.
The area around the statue was cordoned off, and cleaning work began on Friday morning.
Inevitably, furore aimed towards the culprits poured out on Friday, and the People’s Channel’s very own Martin led the outrage.
“CHURCHILL DESECRATED BY PRO-PALESTINE YOBS. Find them. Jail them. Deport them, if possible,” Martin began on X.

And Martin was far from alone. “Disgusting… and what these morons will never understand is that they’re only free to do this in Britain because Churchill saved us from the Nazis,” Piers Morgan wrote on X.
Conservative Party Deputy Chair, Matt Vickers MP, echoed: “Absolutely disgusted to see that Churchill’s statue in Parliament Square has been defaced with the words ‘Zionist war criminal’.
“Churchill stood up to fascism in Europe. Those responsible must face the full force of the law.”

Even typically left-leaning political commentator Narinder Kaur condemned the vandalism. “Whichever side of the political spectrum you are on, whatever you think of Churchill – this is utterly disgusting,” she wrote.
The former prime minister’s memorial has been repeatedly targeted by demonstrators in recent years.
During Black Lives Matter protests in June 2020, triggered by the death of George Floyd in the United States, activists sprayed graffiti on the statue, accusing Churchill of racism.
An Extinction Rebellion protester was subsequently ordered to pay more than £1,500 after painting “racist” on the plinth during a climate demonstration in October that year.

GB NEWSTrans rights campaigners also scaled the monument last year whilst displaying placards and flags in opposition to the Supreme Court’s ruling on the legal definition of a woman.
Churchill’s historical legacy has faced increasing scrutiny, with some academics and campaigners characterising him as a racist imperialist.
The incident comes amid heightened tensions surrounding pro-Palestine demonstrations across the country.
Churchill, who served as prime minister during the Second World War, was voted the greatest Briton in a BBC poll approximately two decades ago.
