Deontay Wilder and Simon Jordan nearly come to blows after Tyson Fury question as boxer walks out

Deontay Wilder abandoned a talkSPORT broadcast this afternoon following a heated confrontation with presenter Simon Jordan over allegations concerning Tyson Fury.

The American heavyweight had arrived at the studio alongside Derek Chisora to publicise their forthcoming bout on 4 April at London’s O2 Arena.

However, the promotional appearance descended into chaos when Jordan raised the subject of Wilder’s trilogy with Fury.

“I don’t want to talk about him,” Wilder declared immediately. “We’re here about Derek Chisora, we are not gonna talk about him at all. Understand that.”

Jordan persisted regardless, questioning the 40-year-old about his longstanding accusations that Fury had tampered with his glove padding before their second and third encounters, both of which the Briton won.

The situation rapidly deteriorated when Jordan described Wilder’s various explanations for his defeats as “flaky” and expressed disappointment in the former champion’s conduct.

“Because I know the truth!” Wilder bellowed in response. “I have the facts. Understand that.”

The Bronze Bomber then rose from his seat and advanced towards the host, prompting security personnel to step in and prevent any physical confrontation.

“I don’t give a f*** about that!” Wilder continued shouting. “I said we didn’t want to bring him up in the first place. It ain’t got s*** to do with him!”

The 40-year-old subsequently departed the studio entirely, bringing the interview to an abrupt conclusion whilst Chisora remained seated throughout the altercation.

Wilder branded Fury “the biggest cheat in boxing” during the exchange, reiterating his claims that the Gypsy King had removed padding from his gloves prior to their contests.

The former WBC titleholder also alluded to forthcoming evidence, stating: “When the documentary and everything starts to come out, I’m gonna show everything.”

Jordan had enumerated several of Wilder’s previous justifications for his losses, including allegations of spiked water and a long count by the referee during their initial 2018 draw.

When the host mentioned claims about Wilder’s elaborate ring walk costume being excessively heavy, the American disputed this particular accusation whilst maintaining the others were factual.

Fury himself appeared to address the ongoing accusations just yesterday via Instagram, remarking: “You don’t hear me crying and moaning about it, saying someone cheated. That’s not me.”

The bout at the O2 represents a significant occasion for both fighters, marking the 50th professional contest of each man’s career.

Wilder enters the ring having endured a difficult period, recording just two victories in his last six outings following knockout defeats to Zhilei Zhang and Joseph Parker.

His most recent appearance came last June when he stopped Tyrrell Anthony Herndon in the seventh round.

Chisora, by contrast, arrives in considerably better form, having secured three consecutive wins including a decision victory over Otto Wallin just last month.

The 42-year-old Briton is expected to retire following the contest, bringing the curtain down on a lengthy career that has seen him face numerous elite heavyweights.
