Keanu Reeves reunites with Cameron Diaz 30 years after their forgotten rom-com where she played a stripper

Keanu Reeves and Cameron Diaz were back side by side on Wednesday, sharing the stage at an Apple event nearly three decades steamed up the screen as love interests in 1996’s Feeling Minnesota.

The actors shared the stage at an Apple event in Santa Monica, California, marking a rare reunion after their cult romantic comedy quietly faded into ’90s obscurity.

They were on hand to promote Outcome, an upcoming film directed by Jonah Hill that reunites them on screen once again.

Reeves, 61, cut a classic figure in a sharp black suit with his greying beard on display, while Diaz, 53, looked every inch a movie star in a sleek white dress.

Flashing megawatt smiles, Reeves and Diaz flanked Hill on the red carpet, joined by their co-star Matt Bomer.

Outcome is a dark comedy reminiscent of Feeling Minnesota, the edgy ’90s rom-com where a newly released ex-convict (Reeves) falls for his brother’s reluctant bride (Diaz) – an ex-stripper.

Feeling Minnesota also starred Vincent D’Onofrio, with a title lifted straight from the Soundgarden lyric, ‘I’m looking California and feeling Minnesota.’

The movie didn’t exactly set the box office ablaze and earned mixed reviews, with critics calling it a quirky but uneven indie experiment.

Still, it’s remembered for the chemistry between Reeves and Diaz long before either became Hollywood heavyweights.

Of course, fans are thrilled to see Diaz back on the big screen after a long hiatus from acting, with a slate of new projects lined up.

She last starred in the 2014 remake of Annie before stepping away to focus on her family and business ventures – and only returned last year to reunite with Jamie Foxx in Back in Action.

The action comedy marked a comeback for both stars, with Jamie recovering from a 2023 stroke and Cameron returning after nearly a decade away for family reasons.

Speaking to Empire previously, Cameron admitted she only came back to work with Jamie, saying: ‘I thought that if I was going to come back and do a movie, the only person I’d come back and do it with would be this guy [Foxx].

‘Seriously. I had other opportunities along the way and I was always saying “No. I’m not doing it… What? Jamie asked? Jamie? Oh, I can do a movie with Jamie!”’

Cameron officially retired from Hollywood in 2018 but was lured back by her close friend to star alongside him.

However, production hit turbulence in 2023 when reports claimed Jamie ‘had an absolute meltdown’ on the UK set, resulting in the firing of three crew members.

At the time, a source told DailyMail.com that while Cameron had no issues with Jamie, she likely won’t return to acting after this film.

‘These back-to-back 10-hour workdays have been a lot on her, and she hates being away from Raddix,’ the source said, adding: ‘Cameron loves being a mom more than anything in the world.

‘She hates drama and confrontation — this is why she retired in the first place. She’s already proven herself in the industry and has nothing left to prove to anyone.’

Cameron famously walked away from Hollywood to spend more time with her rocker husband Benji Madden, 45.

The couple welcomed their daughter in December 2019 and have kept their private family life under wraps ever since.
