Lionel Messi’s sister forced to suspend wedding after suffering serious injuries in horror crash
Lionel Messi’s sister Maria Sol has been forced to postpone her wedding, which was scheduled for January 3, after being involved in a serious road accident in Miami.
The 32-year-old sustained multiple injuries in the crash, including spinal fractures and burns.
According to Argentinian television journalist Angel de Brito, the football superstar’s mother has confirmed that Maria Sol is no longer in critical condition.
However, she now faces an extended period of rehabilitation before she can recover fully.
The wedding to Julian “Tuli” Arellano, who works as part of Inter Miami’s under-19 coaching team, was due to take place in the Argentine city of Rosario.
The accident occurred when Maria Sol lost control of the pick-up truck she was driving and collided with a wall.
Her mother Celia Cuccittini told de Brito that her daughter had fainted before the impact.

The injuries sustained were extensive, with medical assessments revealing two fractured vertebrae along with a broken heel and damage to her wrist.
Burns also formed part of her injuries, which de Brito noted are particularly challenging to treat.
Maria Sol has already commenced her rehabilitation programme in Rosario.

There remains some uncertainty about the precise circumstances of the crash, with initial reports suggesting the burns may have resulted from a motorbike incident, though this has not been verified.
De Brito, speaking on the America TV programme LAM, shared details of his correspondence with the family while reading messages from his phone.
“Messi’s sister is okay, she’s out of danger but I was checking things with the family because she was due to get married in Rosario in Argentina on January 3 and she’s going to have to suspend it,” he said.
The journalist added: “She suffered burns and burns are very difficult to treat as well as displacement of vertebrae.”
Regarding his conversation with Celia Cuccittini, de Brito explained: “I asked her mum Celia Cuccittini because I’d received some information and she told me it’s true but that Maria Sol is okay.”
He confirmed that the mother had told him: “She has two fractured vertebrae, a fractured heel and wrist. The wedding is going to be put back.”

Maria Sol had been planning to wed Arellano in Rosario, the same city where her famous brother married Antonela Roccuzzo.
The entire Messi family, including the Inter Miami and former Barcelona star, had been expected to attend the ceremony.
Much like Lionel and his wife, Maria Sol and her partner grew up in the same neighbourhood and have known each other since childhood.
The clothing designer and entrepreneur has maintained a relatively private existence, having spent time living in Spain before returning to Argentina to pursue her own business ventures.
