So naturally, things get wild at the Vanity Fair post-Oscars bash with the creme de la creme, as proven after Sunday night’s Academy Awards in LA. 

Leading the way was Jessie Buckley, who won the Best Actress gong for her turn in Hamnet, as she was seen embracing her ‘tall drink of water’ co-star Paul Mescal.

While the co-stars were enjoying their night together, others putting on a wild display included Olivia Rodrigo, who was knocking back tequila during the party.

Jessie had plenty to celebrate after making history as the first Irish woman to win Best Actress at the Oscars.

The County Kerry-born actress, 36, led a record-breaking night for female winners as she took home Best Actress at the event held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

In tribute to her home country, she ended her speech in Gaelic by saying ‘Go raibh maith agaibh, slán,’ which translates in English to ‘Thank you very much, goodbye’.

She beat out Rose Byrne (If I Had Legs I’d Kick You), Kate Hudson (Song Sung Blue) Renate Reinsve (Sentimental Value) and Emma Stone (Bugonia).

Hamnet takes place after Agnes and William Shakespeare (Buckley and Paul Mescal) lose their son Hamnet to the plague and grapple with grief in 16th-century England. It is based on the novel of the same name by Maggie O’Farrell. 

Agnes is a healer who must find strength to care for her surviving children while processing her devastating loss.

Buckley changed into a slinky black dress for the party, having earlier worn a strapless pink and orange gown, which made a bold statement.  

Rodrigo, meanwhile, looked sensational in a pretty mini dress from Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello. 

She was in the party spirit at the bash, where she was seen cheers-ing and laughing as she downed her drink.

Buckley recently set tongues wagging when she claimed she could ‘drink Paul like water’ after working with him on the criticially acclaimed picture.

In January at the Critics’ Choice Awards, she spoke directly to Paul who was sat in the audience and showered the hunky actor with compliments.

At one point she referred to her co-star’s heartthrob status, telling him: ‘I bl**dy love you, man, and I know loads of other women do in this room too, but tough s**t!’

Paul’s laughter then turned to tears as the actress gushed from the podium: ‘You’re a giant of the heart and thank you so much for making me a little more human.’

But she later clarified her comments, saying: ‘I just wanted to clarify what I meant by that. I meant that he is essential to what I need as an actor and what I’ve discovered as an actor is possible in what we do in our work.
