A case of betrayal emerged in Karachi’s Landhi area, where a daughter orchestrated a robbery at her parents’ home, looting nearly Rs15 million worth of gold and jewellery. The prime suspect, Azmi, has been arrested, while three of her accomplices remain at large.
According to police, the incident took place on March 14 at a residence in Area 4/B, Landhi No 5. Azmi planned the robbery with one female and two male friends. On the morning of the crime, she and her accomplices entered her parents’ home, held her father, mother, siblings, in-laws, and nieces and nephews at gunpoint and with knives, and looted gold and jewelry from the house’s cupboards.
The case (FIR No 152/2026) was registered at Landhi Police Station under robbery sections, with the complaint lodged by Azmi’s brother, Mohammad Khalid. Police began a detailed investigation and widened the scope to include family members as suspects after initial leads.
CCTV footage obtained during the investigation reportedly showed Azmi leaving the house twice before the robbery – once wearing a black abaya and returning in a different colour. Acting on suspicion, police detained Azmi, who eventually confessed to planning the robbery at her own mother’s house.
Authorities also recovered the stolen gold and jewellery, which Azmi had hidden in her own room. Police said the suspect is divorced and works at a beauty parlor, while family members had previously complained about her poor conduct.
Efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining accomplices. Police continue raids to track the three suspects, but no further arrests have been made so far.
Robbery foiled in DHA
An attempt to rob a house in DHA Phase VII was foiled after an alleged exchange of fire between police and armed muggers near Khayaban-e-Saadi. In this encounter, one outlaw was killed while two police officers sustained injuiries.
According to SSP South Mahzoor Ali, four armed robbers entered a bungalow and held the watchman and other domestic staff hostage at gunpoint. After receiving information through the Madadgar 15 helpline, police reached the scene, prompting the suspects to attempt an escape.
During the incident, three of the robbers managed to flee, while one suspect opened fire on the police party. As a result of the firing, 25-year-old police constable Shehzad Javed and 35-year-old constable Arsalan Malik were seriously injured. Police retaliated, killing the suspect on the spot.
Rescue sources said the injured policemen and body of the suspect were shifted to Jinnah Hospital. Constable Shehzad’s condition was reported to be critical after he sustained a gunshot wound to the chest.
Taking notice of the incident, Sindh Interior Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar sought a report from the SSP South and directed authorities to ensure the best possible medical treatment for the injured officers. SSP South Mahzoor Ali later visited Jinnah Hospital to inquire about the health of the wounded policemen and instructed hospital staff to provide them with the best medical care.
