The Prince of Wales is set to be at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff today as Wales conclude their Six Nations campaign against Italy.
Warren Gatland’s side are staring at the wooden spoon following losses in all four of their opening fixtures this tournament.
Their opponents arrive in the Welsh capital riding high after securing a landmark victory over England last weekend, the first time the Azzurri have ever defeated the English in the competition’s history.
William, who serves as patron of the Welsh Rugby Union, is a familiar face at both men’s and women’s international matches.

The fixture represents Wales’s final opportunity to salvage something from what has been a deeply disappointing championship.
The heir to the throne demonstrated his commitment to Welsh rugby last year when he travelled to Sandy Park in Exeter for the Women’s Rugby World Cup clash between Wales and Fiji.
Images posted on the Prince and Princess of Wales’s Instagram account showed him greeting players warmly, with embraces and handshakes captured on camera.
The accompanying caption read: “Commiserations to @welshrugbyunion. You fought hard and made the nation proud.”
His attendance at matches often creates a playful rivalry within the royal household, given that Catherine holds the equivalent patronage role with the Rugby Football Union.
The couple have openly acknowledged their competitive streak when their respective teams meet, with William joking in 2023 that the journey home with his wife would be “tense” following a Wales-England encounter in Cardiff.

The Princess of Wales recently fulfilled her own patronage duties at Twickenham, where she watched England take on Ireland.
She was spotted in good spirits before the match, sharing a conversation with injured England player Fin Baxter.
Despite Steve Borthwick’s team suffering their heaviest home defeat to Ireland, losing 42-21, Catherine remained gracious in the aftermath.
She posted on social media: “Congratulations Ireland, always a pleasure to see @england rugby in action at Twickenham.”

PAPrincess Anne has also been a regular presence throughout this year’s championship, attending every Scotland fixture in her capacity as Scottish Rugby Union patron, a role she has held since 1986.
The Princess Royal was at the Principality Stadium to witness Scotland’s dramatic late comeback against Wales, with George Turner’s try and Fin Russell’s conversion sealing a 23-26 triumph.
