ITV Emmerdale fans spot huge clue that character of 37 years is set to be ‘killed’ in murder mystery plot

Emmerdale viewers believe they have uncovered clues pointing to Kim Tate’s departure from the ITV soap after nearly four decades on screen.

Claire King’s iconic character first appeared in the Dales back in 1989, becoming central to countless dramatic storylines including feuds with villagers and even faking her own death.

Sharp-eyed fans have spotted a significant change to the programme’s promotional banner on ITVX, with Kim and Joe Tate now featured prominently alongside Sam and Lydia Dingle.

The updated imagery has sparked widespread speculation among the show’s dedicated audience about what lies ahead for the formidable Home Farm businesswoman.

Viewers have taken to Reddit to share their theories, with many suggesting the new promotional material signals major developments for Kim’s character.

Recent episodes have seen significant developments at Butler’s Farm, with Moira Dingle reluctantly signing over her shares to Kim whilst in custody.

The sale came after Moira revealed to Kim that her husband Cain has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, explaining the family needed to focus on his health rather than saving the struggling farm.

Tensions escalated when Cain confronted Kim about the acquisition, accusing her of taking advantage of his wife during a vulnerable moment.

“I’d rather burn that place down than let you have it,” Cain declared during their heated exchange.

Despite Kim offering to let the Dingle family remain at the property, Cain issued a stark warning: “I’m gonna survive this and then I’m going to come after you, and rip everything you’ve got to shreds.”

The promotional shake-up has led numerous fans to predict a potential “who killed Kim” murder mystery storyline, given the escalating conflict between the Tates and the Dingles.

“They’re gonna do a who killed Kim storyline, Joe will find out and Lydia inherits everything,” one Reddit user speculated. (sic)

Another viewer questioned whether the imagery might hint at Kim turning against her step-grandson, writing: “If it was just Kim and Joe, I’d say a new feud, but could it be a hint of Kim working against Joe or a whodunnit?”

The theory gained traction among the online community, with one fan noting that such promotional changes typically foreshadow significant drama.

“It usually means trouble is on the horizon,” they observed.

Not all viewers are convinced Kim will meet her demise, however, with some predicting the storyline could instead focus on Joe’s comeuppance.

One fan expressed hope for a “who shot Joe” plot similar to Robert’s dramatic shooting at the end of 2015.

“I would hate to see Joe killed off – he is a superb actor, villain, and character,” they wrote, adding that Joe “definitely needs to be the village punching bag for a while though.”

The speculation comes amid growing concerns about Joe’s behaviour, with Graham previously cautioning him that his pursuit of power could prove poisonous if he fails to consider what truly matters.

Joe’s decision to gloat to Cain about the farm sale, despite Kim’s explicit instructions not to antagonise the family, has only intensified viewer predictions of his eventual downfall.
