Luke Littler adopted a more focused approach during his Premier League triumph in Cardiff, deliberately reducing his trademark crowd interactions to secure victory.
The 19-year-old World No 1, renowned for entertaining spectators with trick shots and playful stage antics, chose to keep interactions to a minimum as he pursued his first nightly win of the 2026 tournament.
“Usually I get on to them, but tonight I just felt like I needed to win,” Littler explained.
“I didn’t give too much away, I didn’t give too much to the fans, and yeah, I got the win.”
The teenage sensation acknowledged his change in demeanour, adding: “On stage I’ve not been bantering around too much because I’ve not been winning.”
Littler’s Cardiff success came after defeating three opponents on Night Five, overcoming Josh Rock, Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton to claim the title.
The victory brought an end to a frustrating five-week period without a nightly triumph for the 10-time major winner.

His performance has elevated him to third position in the overall Premier League standings, putting him firmly in contention for the title.
“Like I’ve always said, do the hard work and then in the final just relax,” Littler said of his approach.
The teenager’s determination to secure the win was evident throughout the evening as he maintained his composure against three formidable Welsh and Northern Irish opponents.

Littler produced a stunning display on the oche, landing two maximum 170 checkouts during the evening’s action.
“You don’t usually see two in a night, but for myself to get two was a little bit special,” he remarked.

His brilliance nearly reached perfection in the final, where he came agonisingly close to achieving a nine-darter, missing double 15 for the perfect leg.
“I saw a few people messaging me about not hitting the big fish, I hope people put bets on tonight and I have won them money,” Littler joked about his maximum checkouts.
The 19-year-old also issued a clear warning to his Premier League rivals following his Cardiff triumph, insisting he remains the player to beat despite his earlier struggles.

“Tonight’s obviously definitely a statement to everyone out there,” he declared.
The teenager revealed he had noticed criticism online but remained unfazed after checking the betting markets.
“I went on last week, saw a few comments and then went straight on the betting and I was still favourite to win the title,” Littler said.
“So I just said to myself, fair enough I’ve just got to pick myself up now and go on to win.”
With the standings tight heading into night six, Littler recognised the importance of securing victory to strengthen his title challenge.
