Mercedes star George Russell’s girlfriend undergoes emergency surgery after ’12 hours of vomiting’
George Russell’s girlfriend Carmen Mundt has had to go under the knife after being struck down with appendicitis.
The 28-year-old Spanish-born influencer shared the news with her followers earlier today, confirming that her emergency operation went smoothly.
She’s now on the mend in hospital with the Mercedes F1 star keeping her company during her recovery.
Mundt posted a lovely photo of herself beaming from her hospital bed with Russell right beside her.

She wrote: “It was appendicitis! Surgery went well and recovering in the best company.”
The influencer clearly appreciated having her partner there, affectionately calling him “my favourite nurse.”
Before the surgery was confirmed, Mundt had kept fans updated on what was happening with her health.
She revealed she’d been throwing up for around 12 hours straight, with doctors suspecting appendicitis while they waited for test results.

The timing couldn’t have been worse for the influencer, who had been gearing up to share something exciting with her followers.
She explained: “I was planning to share something really special with you today but it will have to wait. I’ve been working on a project for almost two years.”
Mundt also reminded fans that “life is not as perfect as it looks in social media.”
The couple’s love story began back in 2020 in rather sweet circumstances.
Russell was actually meant to be setting Mundt up with one of his mates, but when his friend couldn’t make it, he decided to go along himself.
Speaking to SunSport, the F1 driver shared: “My mate couldn’t make it, so I thought I’ll swing along to see how it goes.”
It turns out Mundt had absolutely no clue who Russell was or anything about Formula 1 when they first crossed paths.
Russell said: “She didn’t know who I was, she didn’t know F1 and wasn’t even bothered by any of that. She is a very down-to-earth individual and we share values.”
There’s also been a bit of a coincidence in their story – Mundt mentioned she was from a small place in southern Spain that nobody would know, but Russell actually recognised it straight away.
He added: “I’m so fortunate with Carmen because we met before the craziness of F1. We met organically and it wasn’t a set up.”

As for Russell’s racing career, he had a solid 2025 season, finishing fourth in the Drivers’ Championship.
The Mercedes driver is now getting ready for the upcoming campaign, with the 2026 F1 season kicking off on March 8.
