Arsenal fans fume after season-ticket prices increase for a fifth year in a row

Arsenal have confirmed that season ticket prices will rise by an average of 3.9 per cent for the 2026/27 campaign, representing the fifth successive year of increases at the Emirates Stadium and sparking outrage amongst fans.

The Premier League leaders are also introducing a restructured pricing system featuring two new match categories.

A fresh B+ tier will apply to fixtures against clubs deemed more significant than traditional Category B opponents, with Aston Villa and Newcastle United reportedly under consideration.

Additionally, an A+ category has been created specifically for potential Champions League quarter-final and semi-final matches, should the Gunners progress to those stages of the competition.

The Arsenal Supporters Trust has voiced its displeasure at the club’s decision, criticising what it described as a continuing “arms race” of price increases across English football.

The fan group expressed particular frustration that proposals from the Football Supporters’ Association calling for a league-wide ticket price freeze had been disregarded.

“Neither the Premier League nor Arsenal have seriously engaged with the idea that a freeze at all clubs would help stop the ‘arms race’,” the AST stated.

The trust argued that with broadcast and commercial revenues continuing to grow substantially across the football sector, clubs should cease placing such financial pressure upon match-going supporters.

The new A+ category will command prices ranging from £90 to £168 for general admission, establishing what the AST described as “by far the most expensive general admission price in English football”.

The supporters’ group drew pointed comparisons with escalating costs elsewhere in the sport, noting that World Cup group-stage tickets this summer are priced at up to three times those charged for Qatar 2022.

“This pricing level follows the American/Fifa model of squeezing more and more from fans,” the AST declared.

The trust suggested the timing was notable, observing that the change arrived after Arsenal’s boardroom became “more US-centric following three appointments in September 2025”.

The AST warned that the new pricing structure “puts Arsenal top of a table we don’t want to win and questions how serious the club is about its commitment to being together on a journey with supporters”.

Whilst the trust took “temporary comfort” from assurances that A+ fixtures would be limited to two matches for at least two seasons, concerns remain about future “price category creep”.

However, the announcement of safe standing at the Emirates has been warmly received by supporters.

The Clock End and North Bank stands will accommodate approximately 13,500 fans in safe standing areas by the 2027/28 season, following years of campaigning by fan groups.
