KARACHI:

Rain and hailstorms, with thunder and lightning, affected multiple parts of Karachi on Tuesday.

Rainfall was reported in Maripur, Mochko, Gulistan-e-Johar, Federal B Area, Malir, Liaquatabad, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, and University Road, according to officials.

Hailstorms were reported in the airport area, Malir Cantt, Gulistan-e-Johar, and Karimabad, leading to a noticeable drop in temperature.

The highest rainfall of 20mm was recorded at Jinnah Terminal. Nazimabad received 8.5mm, University Road 5.8mm, North Karachi 2.3mm, Bahria Town 2mm, and Old Airport and Surjani Town 1mm each.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had forecast light to moderate rain with thunder in Karachi on Tuesday.

Strong winds accompanied the rain, blowing from various directions at speeds of 10 to 40 kilometres per hour.

Humidity was recorded at 91 per cent in the morning, with visibility at 600 metres, according to the department. Humidity is expected to range between 45 and 95 per cent over the next 24 hours..

The minimum temperature in Karachi on Tuesday was 18.6°C, with Wednesday expected to range between 17°C and 19°C.

The maximum temperature on Monday was 27.7°C, with Tuesday expected to range between 26°C and 28°C.
