A murder investigation has been launched by police following the death of a girl at a house in an Oxfordshire village.

Thames Valley Police officers were called to an address in Islip on Tuesday, where they found the girl’s body.

Details of the victim are yet to be released by police.

Detective Chief Inspector Sally Spencer declared there was no threat to the wider public and the incident was “contained”.

The girl’s family has been informed, and specially trained officers are supporting them.

Police have cordoned off the area, with residents told to expect a police presence as inquiries continue.

Leading the investigation, Ms Spencer said she wanted to “share our condolences with the family of the girl, who very sadly has died today”.

“We have launched a homicide investigation, but we are still in the early stages and will provide more details as soon as we are able to,” she added.
