Amon-Ra St. Brown has insisted his Donald Trump touchdown dance ‘had nothing to do with who the president was’ after some fans criticized him for mimicking the president’s signature ‘twist.’

Trump was in attendance on Sunday as St. Brown’s Lions defeated the Commanders at Northwest Stadium, and the receiver took the chance to pay homage to the Commander-in-Chief after scoring in the first quarter.

Alongside his teammate Jameson Williams, St. Brown performed Trump’s signature dance – and even appeared to point up at the luxury box where the president was sitting.

And while he’s since offered something of an apology, St. Brown also doesn’t seem to regret doing the dance.

‘If I offended anyone, I do apologize,’ St. Brown said on his podcast with his brother and fellow NFL receiver Equanimeous.

‘…If any president was at that game, if they had a dance, I would have done it. It had nothing to do with who the president was.’

St. Brown added that the dance was ‘nothing more, nothing less’ than him and his teammates having fun.

Trump sat in a luxury box at the game alongside Commanders owner Josh Harris and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

And his appearance at the game made history, as he was the first president since Jimmy Carter in 1978 to attend a regular season NFL game.

While Washington fell at home to slump to a 3-7 record on the year, it was an eventful contest as the Lions won 44-22.

St. Brown tallied five catches for 58 yards and a score in the contest, and was notably punched by Commanders star Daron Payne as Detroit ran up the score.

The game came after a surprising report from ESPN, which revealed that Trump wants the Commanders’ new stadium named after him.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt did not deny the notion, and told the outlet: ‘That would be a beautiful name, as it was President Trump who made the rebuilding of the new stadium possible.’

The report claimed that Leavitt did not answer further questions but did say: ‘It’s what the president wants, and it will probably happen.’
