NFL star DK Metcalf could face disciplinary action after he appeared to throw a punch at a fan during his team’s Sunday’s 29-24 win against the Detroit Lions.
Footage showed the Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver speaking with a spectator on the sidelines at Ford Field before he lashed out with a closed fist.
Contact looked minimal between the 6ft 4 athlete and the fan, who was wearing a blue wig and leaning over the railing in the front row of the stands.
Match officials appeared to miss the incident, but 28-year-old Metcalf could face retrospective punishment.
The NFL is currently reviewing the incident.
Known for his exceptional physicality and speed, he was a second-round draft pick in 2019 and has since been named to two Pro Bowls.
In March this year, Metcalf was traded to the Steelers after six seasons with the Seattle Seahawks and signed a five-year contract extension worth a total of $150million.
The Lions saw their play-off hopes end in unfortunate circumstances as a Jared Goff touchdown on the final play was chalked off due to pass interference.
