The National Highways and Motorways Police averted a potential accident by intercepting a passenger bus whose driver was found driving in a drowsy state. The incident was caught on camera, and the driver was immediately made to wash his face.
A video posted on X by National Highways and Motorways Police (NHMP) showed the bus driver yawning behind the wheel, endangering the lives of passengers.
According to the police, while monitoring dashcams installed in passenger vehicles on the M-5 motorway, officers noticed the driver appearing sleepy. Legal action was taken against him for driving while drowsy and not wearing a seatbelt.

10 motorways officers promoted
In a separate development, NHMP has promoted 10 civil and uniformed officers to higher positions, officials confirmed Wednesday. The promotions include two deputy superintendents, two computer operators, one assistant private secretary, one superintendent, and four assistants. DSP Rizwan Abbasi was elevated to the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP).
The promotions were approved by the departmental promotion committee, which assessed candidates based on seniority, merit, and departmental rules. Motorway Police IG B A Nasir personally conferred badges on the promoted officers.
Speaking on the occasion, IG Nasir said, “Promotions are recognition of outstanding performance and come with additional responsibilities.” He added that these advancements aim to strengthen leadership within the police force and enhance efficiency in highway and motorway operations.
