But Monzo appeared to go down in an outage, which left thousands unable to send or receive payments.

The issues began shortly after 08:30 this morning, according to Down Detector, peaking at over 450 reports of disruption.

However, a Monzo spokesperson told MailOnline: ‘This has already been resolved and there are no ongoing issues.’

Over 80 per cent of those affected said they were experiencing problems with ‘funds transfer’, with the remaining 15 per cent unable to access their deposits. 

Customers have flocked to social media to share their frustration with the unexplained disruption.

On X, formerly Twitter, one worried commenter asked: ‘Guys is Monzo down for anyone else?’

While one wrote: ‘I’ve made a payment into my Monzo current account from another account but it isn’t showing up. Is there a known issue?’
