Marcus Rashford’s Barcelona adventure has been nothing short of spectacular, with the England forward netting five times in just twelve appearances since arriving on loan from Manchester United in July.
The 27-year-old striker has made it crystal clear he wants to turn his temporary stint into something permanent, telling ESPN: “Oh yeah, for sure.
“I’m enjoying this football club and I think for anybody who loves football, Barcelona is one of the key clubs in the history of the game. For a player, it’s an honour.”
It turns out this wasn’t Rashford’s first flirtation with the Catalan giants.

He’s revealed that talks had taken place before, though they didn’t materialise until this summer’s move finally came together.
“I just believe that things happen when they’re supposed to happen,” Rashford explained to ESPN about the timing of his move.
“It’s not the first time I spoke with Barcelona about potentially coming here, but for whatever reasons it didn’t happen in the past and now is my opportunity to make it happen.”
The forward, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, has been in brilliant form for Hansi Flick’s side, contributing nine goals and assists across all competitions.
Barcelona hold an option to sign Rashford permanently for €30million next summer, and the player himself seems keen to make Camp Nou his permanent home.

“I hope to be here for a long time,” he told fans during a YouTube Q&A session this week.
After spending nearly his entire life at Old Trafford, Rashford believes the time was right for a fresh start.
“It was so many years in one place. People forget this, but 24 years, 23 years of my life was with Manchester United,” he told ESPN.
“So sometimes you just need a change. I think maybe this is the case with me and yeah, I’m enjoying everything.”
The England international hasn’t featured for United since December 2024, finding himself frozen out under Ruben Amorim’s management.
Now he’s embracing life in Spain, describing it as a “new environment and culture” that he’d been looking forward to experiencing.
“I’m learning every day, I’m enjoying it a lot,” Rashford said during Barcelona’s official YouTube Q&A, though he admitted he’s still working on his Spanish language skills.

Rashford fondly recalled watching Lionel Messi’s hat-trick in his early days and noted how these matches are special for any football fan, regardless of allegiance.
Fresh from scoring twice in Barcelona’s 6-1 Champions League victory over Olympiacos on Tuesday, he’s determined to make his El Clasico debut memorable by helping his team secure the win.
