Jennifer Hudson’s son David Daniel Otunga Jr., is following in his mother’s musical footsteps.
Taking to Instagram on Sunday, November 16, the 44-year-old American singer and actress shared a series of photos and videos of herself recording a song in the studio with her son.
“The best part of singing is singing with my son,” the proud mother wrote in the caption, reflecting on the wholesome moment. “He said mama let’s record one of my fav songs together. [purple heart emoji]”
The first clip captured the nine-time Grammy nominee briefly coaching the 16-year-old through a vocal riff after which her son sang into the mic. She smiled, admiring him.
The following slide shows the teenager listening to the track back, bopping his head and smiling, pleased with the recording.
The carousel also included a snap of her son alone inside the transparent booth, with her own reflection appearing on the glass in the photo.
The mother-son duo also shared some lighthearted and hilarious moments during the recording sessions. In a final glimpse from their day, The Voice coach shared a clip of her part of the duet where she missed a note, prompting herself and David descending into laughter.
She tried to continue, but her son’s playful commentary only added more to their fit of giggles, forcing them to pause. “He said now mama u can’t be doing all of that! Lol all in fun [laughing emoji],” she wrote.
For the unversed, Hudson shares David with her ex-fiancé David Otunga Sr.
