A fashion influencer has sparked a debate online after revealing an very expensive designer dress, leaving some of her followers scratching their heads.

Tamara Kalinic, who describes herself as the ‘CEO of What Are You Wearing’ on TikTok, took to social media to model her latest luxury purchase – an eccentric Alaia dress with a jaw-dropping price tag of 12,000 euros.

The style is called the asymmetric jersey bustier dress by Alaïa and it’s selling online for $16,050 in the US.

The avant-garde creation, from the luxury French fashion designer founded by Azzedine Alaïa in 1964, features unusual cutouts in the mid-section paired with a hard exterior shell over the chest and a flowing skirt below.

The beige dress with the eye popping price tag is made up of 96 percent viscose and 4 percent elastane.

The TikToker asked her followers for their honest opinions, saying: ‘I just ordered the most insane dress and we need to check to see if it’s worth 12k euros.’

She then demonstrated how the garment wraps around her body.

She told her followers: This is very secure,’ and then asked. ‘Is it insane or not really?’

The video quickly went viral, attracting more than 13,000 likes and hundreds of comments.

The majority of viewers told her to return the pricey purchase immediately.

‘Hmm nope,’ wrote one follower.’ Absolute return!!’ 

Another chimed in: ‘It’s just not very flattering.’ 

‘I’ll be honest, there’s no dress worth 12k, especially this,’ one comment read. 

‘Does nothing for your figure! Respectfully, return it,’ another user admitted.

Others were fond of the unusual style. 

‘It’s very creative!!’ one wrote. 

Another user commented: ‘You never go wrong with Alaïa.’ 

One user even said they were ‘in love.’  

But a brutal response read: ‘That looks like a lamp I thrifted for $8.’

Some questioned the value of the luxury brand itself.

‘Alaia is such a rip off they have the most basic dresses but add 10k to the price tag.’
