Huge inferno erupts as plumes of smoke blanket iconic seaside town

A fire has broken out in Skegness as thick plumes of smoke are covering the skies above the iconic seaside town.

Emergency services are at the scene at a car wash on Old Wainfleet Road in Skegness.


Nearby residents haver been told to stay away from the scene and close their windows while crews tackle the blaze.

A spokesman from Skegness Police said: “Incident 170 of today relates to a fire at a car wash on Old Wainfleet Road in Skegness. Thankfully there have been no reported injuries.”

The spokesman continued: “ Old Wainfleet Road to Church Road south of the A52, Queens Road and Cross Street have all been closed.

“Fire & Rescue are aware and are currently on scene.

“Please avoid the area if you can, and if you live nearby, please close your windows to prevent smoke from entering your property.”
