A Nottinghamshire chocolatier known for its novelty Belgian chocolate pizzas has ceased trading after nearly two decades in business.
The Gourmet Chocolate Pizza Co confirmed on its website that it has stopped operating, just weeks before Easter, typically one of the busiest periods of the year for chocolate retailers.
Creditors are due to meet on Thursday, March 12, when a liquidator could be appointed to formally wind up the company.
The business, founded in 2007, operated from Colliers Business Park in Cotgrave and at its peak employed more than 30 staff.
It built a loyal following for its distinctive chocolate pizzas, which featured solid Belgian chocolate bases topped with sweets, curls and other confectionery, packaged in pizza‑style boxes.
The company described itself as a small artisan chocolatier producing handmade premium gifts using high‑quality ingredients.
Alongside its signature pizzas, it sold personalised chocolate items, chocolate cupcakes, hot chocolate sticks and a wider range of novelty confectionery.
Products were marketed both directly to consumers and through cafés, retailers and a wholesale arm supplying customers in the UK and overseas.

Financial records indicate the business had been under pressure in recent years.
Companies House filings show tangible assets fell from £159,994 in 2024 to £125,691 in 2025.
Staff numbers also declined, dropping from 34 employees in 2022 and 2023 to 20 in 2024 and 18 in 2025.
The company maintained an active social media presence until recently, with its last Instagram post appearing around three weeks ago.

In the comments, one customer reported not receiving an order. No official explanation has been given for the closure, and the firm has not publicly outlined the reasons for ceasing trading.
A notice in the London Gazette confirmed that creditors will meet to discuss the company’s future, including the potential appointment of a liquidator.
The notice said creditors may receive further information about the company’s financial position and could be asked to approve the costs of preparing a statement of affairs and convening the decision‑making process.
Opus Restructuring has been approached for comment.
A message on the company’s website confirms the end of trading: “The Gourmet Chocolate Pizza Co has ceased trading, and would like to thank you for your custom over the years. We wish all our customers all the best in 2026.”
