Two teenage sisters took their mom’s car for a joy ride and crashed it into the back of a condominium, screaming in terror as neighbors feared their lives could be in danger.
A pair of 13-year-old girls in New Jersey were ‘bored’ and decided to take their mother’s white SUV for a spin – but disaster ensued, according to WPVI.
Surveillance video partially captured how the joyride ended with the girls crashing into two air conditioners, the back of a condominium, a fence and a curb.
The collision happened around 2.20am near Covered Bridge Court in the Canterbury Mews Condominiums complex, startling frightened residents out of bed.
The teens – whose names were not released by police – will be issued traffic citations, which could lead to fines or community service.
Alisa DeMayo, a neighbor, told WPVI: ‘Upon coming downstairs, I heard female voices screaming, “I’m scared, I’m scared!”‘
The girls reportedly only took about 20 seconds to leave the scene of the crash.

‘It sounded like a bomb,’ DeMayo added.
‘I thought something crashed into my roof.’
The crash was captured on surveillance film by Don Prevary, who also lives in the New Jersey community.
Prevary compared the loud crash to a gun being fired.
He said: ‘Then I look out and I see this car flying backwards out of there.’
Police said the teens had been allowed to stay up late when a moment of boredom led to the irresponsible decision.
Washington Township police chief Patrick Gurcsik said to WPVI: ‘There’s no school today. They were allowed to stay up late, and they were bored and decided to take mom’s car for a ride around the development.’

The crash had the potential to be much worse, according to police. No one – including the drivers – was injured.
‘We’re grateful,’ Gurcsik said. ‘This could’ve ended tragically.’
Police found the crashed car with front-end damage parked down the street on Rutland Court.
Law enforcement woke the girls’ parents up ‘after several attempts’ to inform them about the late night incident.
A township building inspector visited the home hit by the vehicle and said it was safe to live in after the collision.
The Canterbury Mews complex is touted as a beautiful community in suburban New Jersey.
The Daily Mail reached out to Washington Township police and the Canterbury Mews Condominiums management team after-hours Wednesday for further comment.
