ATTOCK:
Police claimed on Saturday to have arrested five suspects, including two women, for the brutal murder of a man, which was initially staged as a robbery in Boliyanwala village, Attock.
According to police, the incident took place on January 16, when Saddar Attock Police received a report claiming that a robbery had occurred at a residence and that the alleged intruder had been apprehended by family members.
Acting swiftly, a police team led by SHO Saddar Attock Inspector Taimur Khan Alizai arrived at the scene, where Basharat Ali, also known as Shehzad, was found lying unconscious with clear signs of severe torture.
The victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene. His body was shifted to DHQ Hospital Attock for medico-legal formalities, and a case was registered immediately.
During the investigation, it emerged that the incident was not a robbery, but a premeditated murder. Police revealed that the suspects had lured the victim to the house and killed him over allegations of illicit relations with a married woman, subsequently attempting to conceal the crime by portraying it as a robbery.
As a result of prompt action and professional investigation by Attock Police, all suspects were traced and arrested. Those taken into custody include the husband Nasser, his brother Asif (sons of Ashiq, residents of Boliyanwala), the victim’s father-in-law Afaq Ahmed (son of Ghulam Jilani, resident of Golar Attock), the mother Amrood Bibi, and the wife Alishba Afaq.
The arrests were carried out on the special directives of District Police Officer Sardar Mohar Khan, utilising modern investigative techniques and resources.
Speaking on the occasion, the DPO reiterated that a zero-tolerance policy is being enforced against individuals involved in serious crimes and affirmed that Attock Police remain fully committed to safeguarding the lives and property of the public.
