Firefighters rush to tackle blaze as inferno rips through house next to tube station near Heathrow Airport

London firefighters rushed to tackle a fire next to Hounslow East tube station, after a video showed smoke pouring from a semi-detached house roof.

The station is located near Heathrow Airport in west London and is likely to cause delays to travel in the area.


The London Fire Brigade has confirmed that six fire engines and around 40 firefighters have been called to a house fire on Myrtle Road in Hounslow.

The service initially said they sent four fire engines and around 25 firefighters to the scene.

The rear ground floor of a semi-detached house is completely alight, as well as the next door neighbour’s ground floor conservatory.

They added: “Our crews are tackling a fire in the rear of a semi-detached house in Hounslow.”

The Brigade’s 999 Control officers were called at 1138 and deployed crews from Heston, Southall, Chiswick, Richmond, Heston and Twickenham fire stations.

Fire crews remain on scene.

Concerned onlookers can be seen watching events in an online video.

The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.

Hounslow East Underground station provides access to the Piccadilly Line.

The station remains open.

The Piccadilly Line is currently facing minor delays between Northfields and Heathrow Airport due to a signal failure at Boston Manor.

Transport for London has confirmed that the station is busier than it usually is at this time and is likely to get busier.
