England’s nightmare Six Nations campaign has continued after a historic defeat to Italy at the Stadio Olimpico.

A brave and resilient Italy never gave up until the final whistle, landing a late try to see them push ahead of Steve Borthwick’s lacklustre side to win 23-18.

The Italian crowd were whipped up into a frenzy from the national anthems and the roof nearly blew off after the final whistle after they beat England for the very first time in their history.

It took 33 attempts, but there can be no denying that they were the worthy winners after Leonardo Marin’s 72nd-minute try.
