England forward Bukayo Saka found himself utterly lost for words after receiving an emotional handwritten letter from his mother and father following his commitment to Arsenal’s future.
The 24-year-old agreed fresh terms with the Gunners last week, securing his place at the Emirates Stadium through to 2030.
His parents, Adenike and Yomi, who relocated from Nigeria to the capital before his birth, wrote a touching note that left the winger visibly moved.
The couple said their “hearts are overflowing with pride” at watching their boy develop as both a footballer and a person.
In their letter, Adenike and Yomi praised the qualities that have defined their son’s journey to the top of English football.
They wrote: “This new contract is a testament, not only to your talent, but to your discipline, humility and strength of character.”
The proud parents continued: “We are proud of the man you have become.
“Through every high and every challenge, you have remained grounded, kind and grateful.”

The heartfelt message was delivered to Saka during a sit-down interview with American broadcaster CNN, conducted shortly after his contract renewal was officially announced.
When presented with his parents’ words on camera, the Arsenal star became visibly emotional and struggled to respond.
The winger has established himself as one of the most exciting talents in the Premier League.
He admitted he was rendered “speechless” by the touching tribute from Adenike and Yomi.

He said: “Wow. I don’t see my mum and dad speak with me a lot like this.
“I am pretty speechless. It’s amazing.
“I don’t know what to say apart from thank you to them.
“I wouldn’t be here without them.

Saka added: “Their journey is, for me, inspiring.
“From being in Nigeria to where we are today as a family… the only explanation is God.
“It is not normal. There is a one-in-a-million chance.
