The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed that benefit and State Pension payments due on the upcoming bank holiday Monday will be paid early.
The change affects people receiving State Pension, Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Universal Credit, Adult Disability Payment (ADP), Attendance Allowance and other benefits.
Payments scheduled for Monday, May 5 will instead arrive on Friday, May 2.
DWP said: “On Monday 5 May offices and phone lines are closed. To make sure people get their payment on a day when our offices are open, arrangements have been made to make some payments early.”
HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) and Social Security Scotland have also confirmed revised payment schedules. The changes will affect a wide range of benefit recipients across the UK.

Social Security Scotland has confirmed that Best Start Foods payments will not be affected by the bank holiday changes.
It’s important to note that if one’s regular payment date does not fall on the bank holiday, they will receive their money as normal.
DWP has confirmed that Jobcentres, offices and phone lines will be closed on Monday, May 5 for the bank holiday.

The early payment arrangement ensures people receive their money before the weekend, avoiding any financial difficulties during the bank holiday period.
