Drivers are being warned of long delays on major roads across the UK this morning following a number of incidents on crucial traffic routes.
The M60 north of Manchester remains closed between Junction 17 and Junction 14 following overnight works in the anti-clockwise direction.
The overnight works were scheduled to end at 5am, but have run over after the road was flooded between Junction 16 and Junction 15.
National Highways has confirmed that the flooding on the motorway is due to a burst water pipe.
However, the flooding is unrelated to the overnight works, as it occurred during the closure to allow teams to complete repairs.
Clear-up works have been successful on the M60 anti-clockwise, with preparations being made to remove the closure.
Despite this, drivers are still facing long delays in excess of 30 minutes on approach.
