Drivers could face long delays along a busy motorway this morning following a collision, and subsequent vehicle fire and a spillage.
The M1 motorway in Leicestershire is closed in both directions between J21 (M69, Leicester) and J20 (Lutterworth) following the accident.
National Highways has closed both carriageways following a collision between two lorries.
This was followed by a vehicle fire and spillage, which prompted the full closure.
National Highways also clarified that all emergency services are on the scene dealing with the incident.
Posting on social media site X, formerly known as Twitter, announced an update on the situation.
It stated: “The northbound carrigeway has been released. Traffic caught within the closure southbound will be released through the scene soon.
“There is still a closure at J20 northbound which traffic officers will be removing under a rolling roadblock shortly.”
