The daughter of Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt has shown her support for Erika Kirk and Turning Point USA’s alternative Super Bowl halftime show after slamming Bad Bunny as a ‘cheap’ choice who won’t reflect America’s best values.

Bad Bunny, real name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, was recently unveiled as the halftime act for Super Bowl LX in California, which will conclude the 2026 NFL season on Sunday February 8.

Given the Puerto Rican rapper has frequently hit out at President Donald Trump‘s immigration policies, and even refused to tour in the US over concerns that his fans would be targeted by ICE agents, the announcement sparked outrage amongst conservatives, who have called for a boycott of his performance in Santa Clara.

And last month Turning Point USA, the nonprofit conservative group founded by late activist Charlie Kirk, along his widow Erika announced a counterprogram halftime event that will be held during Bad Bunny’s show.

One person fully behind that idea is Gracie Hunt, whose dad Clark has owned the Chiefs since 2006. Her grandfather, Lamar, was also credited with coining the term ‘Super Bowl’ back in the 1960s.

‘I really respect Erika for all that she’s done, especially with creating a halftime show for America. You know, children are young, they’re impressionable. Young women, young men and everyone, they just need someone to look up to,’ Gracie, 26, said during an appearance on Fox News.

‘As someone who doesn’t yet have young children of my own, I can’t imagine how difficult that is to navigate. But I think she’s done an incredible job leading Turning Point, leading young women and really leading an alternative for young Americans. Football’s becoming the world sport, but, at its heart, it’s America’s sport built around family.

‘When my grandfather named the Super Bowl, he intended it to be something children and families of all ages could come together and watch and really believed that the game should come first, that football is the attraction and that it didn’t need to compromise its character or rely on cheap appeal to draw an audience, especially when that approach can alienate so much of the fan base.’

‘The NFL honors women, the military. This country celebrates communities. So I think that whoever they select going forward for the halftime show needs to reflect those values more closely. So, I respect Erika.’

In the future, Hunt said she would like to see Taylor Swift or Jason Aldean receive the opportunity.

Fans have launched petitions for Bad Bunny to be replaced at the Super Bowl in February, with one calling for country music legend George Strait perform instead. That petition has close to 112,000 signatures at the time of writing.

Not everyone is against the decision to pick the Latino artist, however, with Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones’ daughter Charlotte defending the NFL and Roc Nation’s choice.

Speaking on The Katie Miller Podcast, Charlotte said: ‘I think our Latina fan base is amazing. And I think when you think about the Super Bowl, you want the No. 1 performer in the world to be there.

‘We’re on a global stage and we can’t ever forget that. Our game goes out to everybody around the world and to get the premier entertainer to want to be a part of our game, I think is amazing. We have a mixed culture.

‘Our whole society is based on immigrants that came here and founded our country. I think we can celebrate that. I think the show’s going to be amazing’.

Jones added: ‘I don’t think our game’s about politics. I don’t think people tune in to look at politics. We do everything we can to avoid politics.

‘I think in that moment people will be watching the game, they’ll be celebrating music and nobody will be thinking about what comments on the left side, what comments on the right side. This is about bringing people together.’
